Nothing looks more schlumpy than ill fitting clothes. Leather jackets lend themselves to an especially snug fit. GQ offers this advice: "When trying on a new leather jacket, keep going down a size until you can't get it on, then buy the next size up. It should feel snug as a wetsuit but will take you body's shape over time."
